Pandan season
On steeping real leaves rather than reaching for the bottle.
Bottled pandan extract is consistent and a little relentless. Steeped leaves give something quieter: grassy, faintly coconut, closer to the smell of a kitchen than a sweet shop.
The colour is gentler too, which some people find disappointing until they taste it.
